Adding events – guidance

You are able to add details of your Scarborough in the Great War Centenary event on this website. There is no charge to do so.

Scarborough includes Whitby and Filey, plus the extensive hinterland away from the coast.

We encourage notification of events that have a Scarborough in the Great War link from anywhere.

You will need to provide details of your event and its location.

To supply your location you should have full details to hand, including postcode.

You can also add a featured image providing it is within site upload limits.

All submitted events are moderated prior to publication.

General guidelines:

Due to the online diary display space limitations, exhibitions spanning several months should be added only as a start date only eg “Great War Exhibition begins/opens”. You can add a closing date eg “Great War Exhibition closes”and any special event dates in between. Please do not add recurrent events spanning period longer than a week.

Locations only need to be added once.

Use tags to give extra description to your event.

Purely commercial events will not be published. Advertising services are available for commercial events.

Book launches and similar are welcomed. Please give your full details.

About this site

Scarborough 1914-18 is currently a work in progress as we build a range of content related to Scarborough, Whitby and Filey, and the surrounding areas on during the Great War of 1914-18.
